Down by the river, with K

I know, I know, I say this every time I post one of these pictures, but did I tell you that it snowed the day after I took these images? I mean, it looks nice out, and it was, but not “hey, let me take off all my clothes and hang out in the river” nice. No, that’s just a sign of K’s commitment to her vision for the shoot. It totally wasn’t me saying “you should get in the water.” And even if, theoretically, I was to say something like that, it is always understood that the photographer is just making suggestions. There is never any coercion involved in a shoot. The person in front of the camera is always in charge of what they choose to do. Yes, I’ll offer suggestions to make the shot better (“tilt your head like this, drive your knee overtop your other leg”) but you and you alone are in control of whether you go for a dip in the river in October.
