Epic Northern Rockies Trip

Picture yourself here… Muncho Lake, Northern Rockies.

Late Winter/Early Spring in the Northern Rockies – March 22-24 (between 4–10 guests) $2895 $2595 with shared rooms, travel not included. $3195 $2895 for single occupancy room.

Springtime in the north is a time of change. Of unpredictability. One day could be shorts and tee-shirt weather, the next there’s a foot of snow.

In March, the weather at Muncho Lake is just taking its first tentative steps towards summer, but even if it decides to snow, don’t worry about keeping warm, because we’ll be staying at the Northern Rockies Lodge and spending a day at Liard Hotsprings, creating epic, intimate art.

You’ll have to find your own way to the Lodge (it’s a long drive in from most places—seven hours from Fort St. John, for instance—but you can catch a flight from Vancouver to Fort Nelson, and catch a shuttle from there).

Activities start with supper on Friday. After supper, you can relax, or, if the sky is clear, we can shoot under the stars and—if we luck out—the Northern Lights.

On Saturday after breakfast, we’ll drive to Liard Hotsprings to spend part of the day shooting in this majestic location, complete with hot waterfall, and hopefully, frost-rimed trees.

We’ll return to Muncho Lake for supper and a sunset shoot on the lake. Bring your skates, if you like, as the lodge maintains an area for skating.

Once again, if the sky is nice, we will shoot under the stars. Or, if you prefer, we can shoot indoors for a more classic boudoir look.

On Sunday, there may be time for an early morning shoot before packing up and heading home, relaxed, refreshed, and with some awesome images to show for it.

What to bring: Four or five or six or … different outfits to shoot in, including something fancy and flowy to shoot out on the lake, a bathing suit for Liard, lingerie and whatever other outfit you want to shoot in. Also bring warm boots and a jacket for those moments when you’re not in the hot springs or waiting to shoot. Bring ice skates if you want to skate on Muncho Lake and above all, bring a sense of adventure and a willingness to be flexible.

What’s included: Lodging and meals and as many photos we can fit into the day. After the fact, you can choose to purchase enlargements or an album to commemorate the experience.

Weather in the north is unpredictable. Come prepared for any conditions. This trip requires a minimum four people to run; maximum ten. If you know someone who might be interested, please, feel free to share this with them.
