…I had the radio on

A shot of the living area of the cabin. Isn’t that so pretty?

There’s a famous quote by Marilyn Monroe. When people asked her, scandalized, if it was true she had posed in the altogether for a calendar. “Did you have anything on when you posed for calendar shoot?”

“Sure, I had the radio on,” quipped Marilyn.

If you have the radio tuned to 93.1 Big Country or, apparently 98.9 Rewind over the next few weeks—whatever your state of dress may be—there’s a chance you might hear an ad for Beyond Boudoir.

For such a visual medium as photography, advertising on the radio seems a little strange, but one of my clients works for their ad department and convinced me to enter a package in their spring auction.

It’s not my “let’s go to the West Coast and take a helicopter to the top of a ridge, then a boat out to a hotspring” package, but it’s just about as epic.

You’ll spend three days and two nights at the Rocky Mountain View Bed & Breakfast near Hinton, and a full day exploring and shooting in the Rocky Mountains. Breakfast and a picnic lunch will be provided.

While this could be a wonderfully romantic getaway with that special someone, the cabin has three beds and sleeps up to six people (in shared beds); if you want to bring along additional people (say, a bridal party or your dance troupe), the price is $500/extra person.

More than just a photoshoot, the Rocky Mountain experience is also a relaxing getaway at one of the best Bed and Breakfasts in Alberta.

We will spend the day exploring the Rocky Mountains, taking shots along the way. At the top of a mountain. At the base of a waterfall. And if you’d prefer to fly to these locations rather than walk or drive, we can arrange for helicopter transportation as an add-on.

If you’re interested in bidding, the price is currently at just over $600, which is less than a quarter of the value of the total package. You can register and bid here.
