Washed out
There’s a saying in sports that when a game gets cancelled due to rain, it’s washed out.
As I’ve talked about elsewhere, though, bad weather can make for the best boudoir images. I love shooting in the rain.
In the last week, the alpine flowers have started to bloom. I love alpine flowers and fireweed and paintbrush.
And this week is the Dawson Creek Exhibition. Shooting after dark with the midway lights? Is magical.
Right now is indeed peak photo season here at Beyond Boudoir. So why am I not out there, shooting?
It’s a hilarious story full of bears and squirrels, summer flowers, the love shared between a man and his canine companion and astupid mistakes, but the short version is after taking a week and a half off to go down to the lower mainland, I fell off my bike and broke my leg the second day I was back, and am now unable to walk for the next six weeks, meaning this summer is a wash out for me in terms of productivity.
Before you ask, I am fine. It doesn’t hurt (much), but I can’t put any weight on the leg. And the way that I shoot, always moving about, moving the lights, examining the angles and the background and the way the light is hitting a person? Well, that’s off the table until September.
September. You know, when the kids go back to school, and you have more free time. September, when the leaves start to change and the entire world is touched by Midas. (Around here, at least, most of the leaves go golden, not red.)
I’m going to do something to celebrate, but I’m not sure quite what yet. Keep your eyes on this space.
Sorry to all clients, current and future, who might have been hoping to shoot in August, but I am out of commission next month.
Thanks.
