What to wear, what to wear…?
There are some clients I have who arrive to shoots with a literal suitcase, stuffed to the brim with all manner of outfits, and some who show up with one outfit.
Which ones are doing it right? All of them.
For me, what matters is the person inside the outfit. I want to capture character, motion, emotion.
But I know that if the outfit isn’t singing for you, you’re not going to feel as comfortable or as beautiful, so it’s important that what you wear is something that works for you.
I’m all for bringing along outfits that you already own, but if you are looking for something new, Victoria’s Attic is one of the best places locally for a variety of lingerie. They can help find something that looks good for your body type.
Don’t go overboard. Lingerie can be expensive, and I would much rather shoot with one or two items that make you feel good than run through a veritable laundry basket of outfits.
And while most people equate lingerie with boudoir, remember that we’re shooting beyond boudoir, and there’s no restrictions. Steal something from your partner’s closet, bring along a white sheet, your favourite tee-shirt, a zippered hoodie, or don’t wear anything at all. It is what works for you.
But here’s what you I think you should wear: your confidence like a cloak, wear your strength like armour and wear your joy like a gown. You can wear a smile, if you like, or you could wear your heart on your sleeve. Because in the end, the clothes aren’t as important as what’s inside of them. Because the most important thing here is you.
