Who you are
You have a nice butt.
No, seriously. It’s a great butt. But nice as it is, it doesn’t define who you are.
While people may enjoy it for its aesthetic appeal, it does not usually, as far as I can tell, make people laugh or smile or ponder the meaning of existence.
And while it might be listed in the top ten reasons people love you, take a look at the other reasons: they love you because of your smile. Because of your laugh. Because you’re such a fan of the Mandalorian, or because you can do complex math equations in your head or because of the way you look at them across the room when you’re both at a boring party and you would really rather be doing something else, and maybe there’s an empty room somewhere around here …. They will love you because of the way you understand their problems, that you have your next five years mapped out, or the way you love to wing it. They love you for far more than your physical assets. They love you mind, body, spirit.
Your butt is easy to take pictures of, but your confidence? That is an intangible. It is much harder to capture in a photograph. But the intangibles are what make you you, as much or more as your butt.
My goal is to capture both the tangibles—like your butt—and the intangibles: character, motion, emotion. Your confidence, your joy, your passion, your pleasure. My approach is holistic.
But how do you convey these things? Some people naturally emote, but most people find it awkward being in front of a camera. Their last experience with a “professional photographer” was for their school portraits. Never fear. I will help you as much (or as little) as you need to create emotional, evocative and provocative images.
Not only have I studied the art and craft of photography, I have also studied the psychology of emotion, and how to create images that drip with passion, with joy, with confidence. This goes far beyond “say cheese”, to creative ways to draw out emotion and create images that capture who you are.
And, yes, take great pictures of your butt if you like, too.
